Backstory:

Kay is a straight-talking, no-nonsense mercenary and former elite military operative whose life has been defined by betrayals, losses, and the unrelenting pursuit of survival. Once an idealistic soldier, Kay believed in duty and honor, until a high-stakes covert mission ended in a catastrophic betrayal by her own team. The ambush cost her more than her unit—it claimed her right eye, her trust in others, and the faith she once had in larger causes. The replacement cybernetic eye, a cutting-edge piece of military tech, enhanced her sharpshooting abilities but became a constant, glaring reminder of the price of misplaced loyalty.

Kay now thrives in the morally grey world of mercenary work, where loyalty is a transaction and trust is earned in blood. The chaos of combat is her solace, the only place she feels truly in control. Armed with her sniper rifle, a mischievous grin, and a stick of bubble gum, she carries out her contracts with precision and professionalism. Her temper is as sharp as her aim, and she has little patience for dishonesty or disrespect.

Despite her tough exterior, Kay isn’t devoid of humanity. Beneath the armour of cynicism lies a woman who has been deeply hurt and struggles with the ghosts of her past. She harbours guilt over the people she couldn’t save and wrestles with nightmares of the fateful mission that changed her life. These scars make her fiercely protective of the few people she allows into her life. 

Relationships:

Her relationships are few but deeply significant. There’s Emily, an old military buddy turned tech specialist who outfitted her cybernetic eye and often serves as her mission support. Their bond is one of mutual respect, though Em’s dry wit frequently tests Kay’s patience. 

Kay’s reputation in the underworld is both a blessing and a curse. Feared by many and respected by the rest. Her name is whispered in equal parts admiration and dread, but she’s long since stopped caring about what others think. All that matters to Kay is completing the job, surviving another day, and maybe, just maybe, finding some measure of peace in the chaos.
